Clean You Can Count On: Safer Solutions for Seniors

When you think about a clean home, what comes to mind? Probably, it’s a fresh scent and sparkling surfaces.

For years, we’ve associated the strong, somewhat sterile smell of bleach or ammonia with a job well done.

But what if the very things we use to clean could be impacting our health and the environment? It’s an important question, especially when considering the well-being of seniors.

As we age, our bodies can become more sensitive to our surroundings. Harsh chemicals found in traditional cleaning products can sometimes cause respiratory issues or skin irritation.

In fact, studies show that long-term exposure to common cleaning sprays can be as damaging to lung function as smoking 20 cigarettes a day. That’s why a shift toward safer, more sustainable cleaning solutions is so important.

Here’s what Priority Life Care is doing to make a difference across all of our senior living communities.

How Priority Life Care Leads with Sustainability

At Priority Life Care, we believe that providing exceptional care means looking at the bigger picture. That includes creating the healthiest and safest environment possible for our residents. We place a heavy emphasis on providing our residents with opportunities for social connection, physical activity, and delicious, nourishing meals, but we also know that overall health starts with the very air you breathe.

As such, we’re proud to lead the way in sustainable senior living, and our commitment is reflected in the choices we make every day, right down to our cleaning protocols.

This year, we’ve partnered with Viking Pure to use their innovative cleaning and disinfecting solutions in all of our communities. These solutions are generated on-site using just water, salt, and electricity.

The result is a powerful cleaner and a hospital-grade disinfectant that are completely non-toxic and biodegradable. They effectively eliminate germs (including common viruses and bacteria) without all the harsh side effects of traditional chemicals. This system helps us maintain a pristine environment while protecting our residents and staff from unnecessary chemical exposure.

The partnership with Viking Pure is just one example of our commitment to sustainability, but really, it’s woven into every single thing we do. We understand that a healthy planet and healthy people go hand-in-hand: they don’t exist in isolation. We’re working hard to adopt forward-thinking solutions that care for our residents’ well-being in a more holistic way.

A Greener, Gentler Approach to Clean

Sustainability is important. We get it. But it’s important to note that we choose non-toxic cleaning solutions not just because we want to be “green,” but also because we want to create a healthier living space for our residents.

The products we use, like Viking Pure, work without leaving behind harsh chemical residues on the surfaces you touch every day. This simple change reduces the indoor air pollution that can be caused by volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released from conventional cleaners.

For seniors, particularly those with asthma, allergies, or other sensitivities, this makes a world of difference. A gentler approach means fewer irritants in the air and on surfaces, contributing to a more comfortable and healthier home environment.

Whether it’s in the cleaning products we choose or the other wellness practices we follow, creating a safe and nurturing home is our top priority. We’re dedicated to implementing solutions that support the health of our residents and the planet.

If you’re looking for a senior living community that puts wellness first, we invite you to learn more about our approach. Contact us today to discover a community that’s as committed to a healthy environment as it is to exceptional care.
